e-comm will see boom in next six months, finds survey

September 3 2020: Leading  Indian staffing company Genius Consultants has recently conducted to get an opinion from people who have been working from home since the lockdown. The survey, which was conducted over a span of 3 months from April to June 2020,  covers the impact of work from home, flexibility of work schedule, employability boom, job market, etc.
The survey finds that 48.9% believe that the lockdown has affected their work life balance owing to salary cuts and layoffs. 28.64% people felt that the reduction in man power has led to an increase in work pressure thus impacting the overall work life balance. Furthermore, 32.9% employees  say they are not satisfied with the work in the lockdown, with 20.33% stating that work life balance needs improvement. 48.51% people also felt that the current work from home schedule does not allow them to spend adequate time with friends and family. As for the current job market, the survey states that the e-commerce sector will witness employability boom in the next two quarters followed by IT & Service Sector, FMCG, Retail, and BFSI, in that order. However the growth in the job market will depend on the economic condition of the country and the main demand will be restricted to certain sectors. 42.60% people felt that one of the major difficulties they have been facing while searching for a job in this scenario is compromising on the current pay scale. 39.72% felt that lack of opportunities was another challenge while 17.68% felt relocation was an issue.

Corporates need to consider the reason for the imbalance and work with their employees to chart out a pragmatic plan of action.”
