Chennai, May 19 2015: The Hajj period attracts close to 3 million pilgrims every year from across the globe. In order to provide basic amenities for such a large gathering, the government of Saudi Arabia together with National Water Company (NWC) set up drinking water and sanitation facilities across Mecca.National Water Company (NWC), Saudi Arabia, is a government owned entity dedicated to provide quality water and wastewater management services to all citizens.
To make this possible, NWC took the initiative of developing a travel-assistance mobile app that would support millions of Hajj pilgrim during their holy journey. NWC was on a lookout for a cutting-edge technology partner.
Chennai, India-headquartered Kaar Technologies was entrusted with the task of building a mobile app that will feature various sections like the intuitive map carrying locations of NWC’s facilities, a complaint portal and contact details of officials. After analyzing the feasibility of a project of this size, Kaar Technologies formed a team of technocrats to develop a travel-assistance app. The team worked together under tight deadlines and built a simple yet appealing travel assistance app named Seqayat Al- Hajj.
The app is compatible with all major mobile operating systems such as Windows, Android and iOS and can be downloaded for free from respective app stores. With this app downloaded into their mobiles, the pilgrims will be able to locate water service centers and sanitation facilities across Mecca via the built-in intuitive maps.  The bilingual app (Urdu and English) features four sections namely ‘Complaints’, ‘Contacts’, ‘Mashaer Map’ and ‘ ZamZam’
The complaint section features a drop down, which lists all possible issues that pilgrims can report about, allowing them to easily pick one and register their complaints. ZamZam: This section features a Google map which exactly points out to places where NWC’s water service centers are located.
The Mashaer map guides the pilgrims to sanitation centers.
