The printer hits the Cloud!

HP Photosmart Plus eAll-in-One B110e: Printer in the 'cloud'

How often one needs to print a document, an e-mail or the notes for a presentation that one has stored on a notebook or even one’s mobile phone! And how complicated it can get! Transfer the document to a thumb drive; then stick it into a PC that is connected to a printer…..

Printer leader Hewlett Packard has responded to this all-too-common customer hassle – and launched a truly ‘anytime, anywhere’ wirelessly Web-connected printer for those wish to print securely, from almost any portable device, from anywhere in the world!

They do this by allocating to the printer an ‘ address’ on the Web – and making all such printers part of an ePrint Cloud.

Earlier this week in Mumbai, HP unveiled the first such “e-All-in-One”: the HP Photosmart Plus eAll-in-One B110e: “powered by touch and empowered by the web”. Customers can send emails, documents and photos to this printer from any mobile device, including HP iPAQ, BlackBerry, iPad or any wireless-enabled notebook PC, across the room – or across continents. The 3.5 inch HP TouchSmart screen lets one rotate and crop, adjust brightness and apply colour effects before printing – all without a PC.

According to early reviewers, the printer can handle on MS Office docs – Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel or plain text; Adobe Acrobat PDF; and most common picture formats like jpeg, bmp, tiff and png – but not direct web page ( HTML) printing. There is a limit of 5 MB per attachment to the email being printed – but up to 5 attachments will print within this limit.

The printer will sell in India for Rs 7570.
