Truke Fit Pro: true wireless, true value for money

These wireless ear buds offer high-end features at an entry level price

July 27 2020: Wireless earbuds have evolved out of consumer pressure for an always on-always worn audio headset which is at the same time completely unobtrusive. And TWS or True Wireless Stereo has come in very handy to make this happen. Inspite of the very small size of these in-ear devices, they retain the stereo quality of the source music in your phone or player, because TWS first pairs one bud to the source device using Bluetooth and then uses Bluetooth again to pair both ear buds in a stereo configuration.
The challenge is to achieve all this in a sensibly priced product – and by and large opting for wireless ear buds over in-ear phones has meant jacking up the asking price to Rs 2000 or more.
So, I am pleasantly surprised to find that the Truke Fit Pro wireless Bluetooth ear bud set is so aggressively priced (currently discounted to Rs 999). I looked very carefully to see if any compromises had been made. I could find none.
The 13mm drivers are large enough to deliver deep bass tones. The in built 40 mAh lithium polymer cells are good to go for around 4 hours, while the 500 mAh batteries in the charging case let you recharge half a dozen times without needing to plug in somewhere.
The single interface is a type C port for charging on the case (the cable is provided). The buds themselves have a press button on the outside surface with which one can perform all functions like adjusting volume or taking calls. Initial pairing with your phone may sound a bit tricky but the printed guide explains how to interpret the red and blue LED lights. (at my age I do wish they would print these in somewhat larger letter size!)
One premier feature I appreciated is the ability to activate a voice assistant – either Siri or Google depending on whether your phone is iPhone or Android – by just pressing your left bud button twice.
Truke uses the latest Bluetooth 5 standard and the buds are light on the ears, weighing around 45 grams.  I do wish they had thrown in at least one spare set of covers for the buds as no two ears are identically shaped. That said, the Truke Fit Pro represents very good value for money.
