Nokia 8.1 packs pro photography in a mid-range smartphone
Bangalore, December 24 2018: Since the glory days of the 3310 and later the Communicator and the N series, Nokia has been a company that has offered devices that are rugged, thanks to Nordic engineering, and performance-ready, thanks to the brand's commitment to software stability. After its rebirth recently, Nokia is slowly, but steadily regaining its name as a brand that can be blinded trusted for quality. This is partly thanks to its tie-up with Google to offer stock Android OS on all of its devices. In order to stand apart from the uncomfortably crowded smartphone market, Nokia is doing what it did best in its earlier avatar back in the days -- provide high-end quality at mid-range prices. Its latest release -- the Nokia 8.1 is an ideal example of how the brand has identified the pulse of the Indian consumer and has innovated in that one area to bring out a compelling product. Goes without saying that camera performance the biggest selling point for devices this year and Nokia has christened the 8.1 as a 'value flagship' for its optics.
The device comes with a combination of Zeiss Optics and the PureDisplay screen technology, with HDR 10 for better imaging performance. With the 8.1,you can view the screen clearly even in extremely bright light, while Zeiss takes care of low-light photography. A sensor with large 1.4 microns pixels and with in-built optical image stabilization, a fairly wide aperture ensures that the 8.1 can be used for pro photography and videography.
Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 platform, the device also comes with Qualcomm's AptX sound module and the regular bunch of AI imaging features like Bokeh and wide landscape pictures. The 8.1 features Nokia's edge-to-edge display with diamond-cut design, which is durable and stylish. The 6.18 inches device comes in a 12 MP + 13 MP rear camera setup and a 20 MP clicker in the front. Powered by a 3500 mAh battery, the 8.1 is available in a 4GB + 64 GB memory configuration and is priced at Rs. 26,999. If you wish to end the year by procuring a mid-range device that scores high on pro imaging, the 8.1 is a good choice.VISHNU ANAND
