The Oppo F3’s dual lens front camera not only captures your selfie, but also fits your gang into one frame
Bangalore,May 8 2017: When it comes to taking selfies we all tend to get greedy and sometimes even more becomes less. Maybe that’s why mobile manufacturers are adding more and more innovations to its front camera, which has evolved from having just a VGA lens to higher resolution, and now to the latest trend of having dual lenses.
Earlier this year, Oppo came up with its dual lens front camera range and launched the F3 Plus. The Chinese maker recently launched the second device from its F series, the F3. We got our hands on this device and here’s our take:
The main highlight of this device is its two lenses for the front camera. One lens is a normal 16 megapixels, while the other is an 8 megapixels lens that shoots in ultra wide angle. This means that the first lens is meant for your own selfie, while the second one is for groupies and can fit as many people in one frame, without making the picture looking crammed. The picture quality of both these lenses looks good, and the selfies or the groupies come out well. The front camera uses a 6 P lens with 1/3-inch sensor and f/2.0 aperture. Also, it has an enhanced depth of field, which is helpful is shooting wider frames. There’s a smart facial recognition tool that automatically prompts you to switch to group selfie if there are more people in one frame. The F3 comes with Oppo’s beautification feature, Beautify 4.0. The screen flash feature has been upgraded to automatically detect the ambient light and brighten the images accordingly. Just like many other devices with dual lenses, this one also carries the Bokeh effect that blurs the background to focus more on the subject.
The rear camera of 13 megapixels looks quite humble when compared to the front camera features, but still does a decent job of clicking quality pictures. It comes with a LED flash and PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) technology.
In terms of design, there is no uniqueness and because it is the predecessor to the F3 Plus, there’s much resemblance between the two. The exception being its screen size, the F3 Plus has a 6-inch display while the F3 comes with 5.5-inch. It has Full HD 1920x1080 pixels resolution with IPS TFT screen.
We aren’t denying that this device looks slim, sleek and stylish, and also fits easily into our palm. It weighs 153 grams with 7.3 mm thickness and sports a metal body with curved edges. It has a finger-print sensor located at the front bottom of the device.
Storage and a triple slot tray are two worthy features of this device. The F3 can have dual 4G SIMs along with a micro SD card. The internal memory itself is 64 GB, which is further expandable up to 128 GB.
The F3 runs on 1.5 GHz MediaTek Octa-core processor with 4GB RAM. It is supported by Oppo’s proprietary Color OS 3.0, based on Android 6.0. The 3200 mAh battery gives a decent life of one day.
The F3 and the F3 Plus offer a similar spec sheet, with little differences here and there. If you thought that the latter’s pricing was steep then the F3 is reasonably priced at Rs. 19,990. It will be available in India, from May 13.
