Micromax launches new size zero phone -- with innovative after-sales service
Bangalore, June 22 2015: Micromax has gone on a diet. And the result is the Canvas Sliver 5 -- the slimmest and lightest phone as of today. Of course, these claims are short lived. Gionee's S7 was the country's slimmest phone till the Sliver 5 joined the size zero bandwagon last week at the global launch in New Delhi.
The Sliver's design brilliance has successfully merged an aircraft grade metal frame into an ultra light smart phone that weighs just 97 grams. Also, the Sliver is just 5.1mm thick and Micromax has been able to achieve this by ensuring that there are no bumps in the back panel, where a camera lens juts out.
The Sliver is 'slim' from the inside too. To maintain its weight and size, the device runs on a 2000 mAh Lithium Polymer battery, with embedded power saving capabilities as well as an optimized User Interface. to save around 30% power and ensure a full day of performance on a single charge cycle. The software optimizations and power saving capabilities flow from Indian engineers at Micromax's Bangalore R&D centre.
Running on Android Lollipop, the Sliver comes with a 4.8-inch AMOLED 720p HD Screen, powered by a 1.2 Ghz Snapdragon Quad Core processor and a 2GB DDR3 RAM. The Sliver comes with in-built memory of 16 GB, along with an 8 MP back and 5 MP selfie optimized cameras. The device features Dirac HD sound and NXP Smart Power Amplifier, for louder sound, and deeper bass outputs.
The Sliver comes with a 4G LTE single SIM slot, and upon purchase, users get double data from Airtel, meaning you pay for 4G data and get double the data for the first few months. Micromax has also thrown in a new service policy for the Sliver -- a guaranteed 7-day door-to-door repair and/or replacement guarantee. If your device were to experience a defect, Micromax will send home a technician with a replacement unit within 7 days of your complaint.
Priced at Rs. 17,999, the Micromax Canvas Sliver 5 is for those who appreciate design with decent performance in their smart phones. The fact that it is ultra light weight with a sophisticated looking metal casing is an added bonus. The device will be available through online and offline outlets later this week. Anand Vishnu
