Amazon Web Services promise 'continuous innovation' on behalf of their world-wide customers

From Anand Parthasarathy
Bangalore, October 5, 2012: Underpinned by its mantra “we win only when they (our customers) win”, Amazon Web Services slashed prices 20 times in the last 6 years, inspite of zero competitive pressure, said’s Chief Technology Officer Werner Vogels. Speaking to a standing-room-only audience at the AWS Summit here yesterday, Dr Vogels promised ‘continuous innovation on behalf of the customer’ while recalling seven transformations in cloud computing, that Amazon recognized as facts of life in today’s connected business world.
These included, higher availability of distributed architectures, making it possible for customers to ‘scale by command’ rather than scaling to architectural limitations; ubiquitous access to content, rather than content copying; a ‘mobile first’ ecosystem and the ability to experiment more often and ‘fail quickly’. “The Cloud is the Content Hub”, Dr Vogel concluded – which is why it was central to everything that AWS offered.

To underline their increasing presence in India, Dr Vogel introduced the heads of four ‘satisfied customers’ who also just happened to be role models of innovative and cyber-driven Indian companies: Ravi Garikipati, CTO, Innovation Labs at 24/7; Pawan Gupta, CTO of leading Indian movie distributor Eros; Mohit Saxena, founder and Vice President (Technology) of leading mobile marketing player InMobi and Arun Goyal, Senior Vice President, at digital publishing services pioneer, MPS.
The day-long conference and expo included multiple parallel tracks for corporate, startups and developers – and presentations by Shane Owenby, Managing Director, Asia Pacific, AWS; and Kingsley Wood, Business Development Manager, AWS.
