Facebook soon, in 8 Indian languages on your mobile

New Delhi, April 4 2012: The Social networking website Facebook has announced availability of a mobileapp to access the site in Hindi -- to be followed over the next few weeks by seven other Indian languages --Gujarati, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Punjabi, Bengali and Marathi. The app can be downloaded by entering d.facebook.com/install directly into a mobile browser.
Says Kevin D'Souza,Facebook's Country Growth Manager, India, : "With over 50 million people in India on Facebook, we want to make sure that everyone has a great Facebook mobile experience regardless of the device that they choose to use".
The application was originally launched in July 2011 and now works on more than 3600 Java-enabled phones around the world. Facebook has some 800 million monthly active users and over 350 million mobile users worldwide. It claims 46 million monthly active users in India -- -- an increase of 132 per cent from the previous year.
