Kerala ready to launch its own Internet service

July 21 2022: Kerala has become the only state in India with its own Intertnet service. Kerala Fiber Optic Network Ltd  has received the ISP license from the Department of Telecommunications , Government of India and is all set to roll out its services statewide.
K-FON is a public private parneship in which public sector undertakings Bharat Electronics and  RailTel  are joining two state-based private enterprises.
KFON is envisaged to provide free internet to BPL families and 30,000 government offices.
Tweeted  Kerala Chief Minister  PinarayiVijayan on July 14: “Now, our prestigious #KFON project can kickstart its operations of providing internet as a basic right to our people. pic.twitter.com/stGPI4O1X6”.
Kerala is the first and as yet only Indian state to declare access to Internet a basic right
