Foxconn to expand its iPhone manufacturing in India with a fresh infusion of $ 1 billion

Chennai, July 13 2020: Sriperumbudur  on the outskirts of the Tamil Nadu capital may be the first beneficiary of an anti China wave that is being felt in both Indian and the US. 
The Trump governments pressure on Apple to move its manufacturing of iPhones out of China is seeing early results: Reuter reports that Apple’s contract manufacturer, Foxconn is to invest  $1 billion afresh to  beef up its  IPhone manufacturing lines in Sriperumbudur where it assembles  iPhones in the  Rising Stars Mobile India  plant.
This is  Foxconn’s second India plant for contract manufacturing  mobile phones: It also operates a plant in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh for Chinese company Xiaomi.
