Sony refreshes  Walkman brand with an Android touch screen model

New Delhi, January 25 2019: Forty years after launching what became the first truly portable personal cassette player, the iconic  Walkman, Sony India  has refreshed the series by unveiling a new Walkman player in India, the  Android Walkman NW-A105 in the country, priced at ₹23,990.
The NW-A105 Walkman comes with a built-in memory of 16GB which can further be expanded up to 128GB. It features a   3.6 inch touchsccreen display, supports Hi-Res Audio and offers a battery life of 26 hours.The NW-A105 also features a USB Type-C port for fast charging.

The first of Sony's iconic portable cassette tape players went on sale in July for $150. Sony co-founder Masaru Ibuka  wanted a listen to opera that was more portable than Sony's existing TC-D5 cassette players. Sony designer Norio Ohga,  created  the prototype that was commercially  launched as  the Walkman. It went to become one of Sony's most successful brands of all time, transitioning formats over the years into CD, Mini-Disc, MP3 and  streaming and selling over 400 million Walkmans.
