Bangalore's tech expo ends with promise of city-wide free WiFi

Bangalore, November 21 2019: Bengaluru Tech Summit 2019, the three day technology and innovation expo,  ended  yesterday,  having seen  some 15,000  visitors, 262 Speaker and , 248 exhibitors.
The National Rural IT Quiz and Bio Quiz formed an integral part of the summit.  The summit witnessed the presentation of the STPI Export Awards on the first day, Smart Bio Awards on the second day and Bengaluru Impact awards on the final day.
A highlight of the summit was the Robotics Competition – R2- RoboRecharge Robotic Premier League where 120 children from schools in Bengaluru, Hosur and Andhra Pradesh. The summit witnessed 150 scheduled B2B meetings amongst national and international participations. Workshops at the summit were conducted by Accel Partners, NASSCOM and KITS. For the first time Bengaluru Skill Summit 2019 was inaugurated at BTS.
City-wide WiFI
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. C N Ashwath Narayan announced the setting up of more than 4000 WiFi hotspots -- a long standing demand of the city. ACT has approached the State Government with an  offer  to provide free internet service as a social service. Everyday WiFi will be freely available to the people of Bangalore  for a minimum of one hour. "We are planning to cover 800 square  kilometers with access to high speed internet connectivity. As per the legal framework and formalities, the Department of Urban Development and BBMP will work towards assisting ACT with the installation. The process of installation will take around nine months after the required final approvals", said Dr Ashwath Narayan.
Delegates released a  booklet on the Government of Karnataka’s ELEVATE Grant Scheme under Karnataka Startup Policy titled ‘ELEVATE – Gateway to Success’ with details of the ELEVATE 2019 winners.
