Panjim, Goa,February 1 2019. The Government of Goa is all set to to host the 9th edition of the prestigious Aegis Graham Bell Awards (AGBA) 2019 here today at the Entertainment Society of Goa.
This award is an initiative of Aegis School of Business, Data Science, Cyber Security & Telecommunication and is powered by mUni Campus.
Goa state IT Minister Rohan Khaunte is the chief guest. Ameya Abhyankar, Secretary for Information and Technology, Goa is guest of honour.
Aegis Graham Bell Awards (AGBA) has been promoting innovations in the ICT domain. AGBA has been rewarding those who have been contributing in these fields, for 8 years with a vision to foster and stimulate innovators for India to become the nucleus of innovations.
Says Mr Khaunte: “India is the third largest start up ecosystem and Goa has a vision to be Asia's top start up destination by 2025 and a new start up policy for the same has been approved. The mission behind this policy is to make the students of Goa self-sufficient and that Goa becomes a state of job givers instead of job seekers. This association with Aegis Graham Bell Awards, one of the largest award in the ICT domain hosted by Aegis School of Data Science will be a great encouragement for all the booming young Goan minds to think out of the box and innovate”.
Adds Mr Abhyankar: “Goa state has always been a tourist destination, but now we are on a mission to transform the state by leavening technology with tourism so that Goa emerges as the foremost knowledge based digital economy among all the states of India. There are lot of policies and incentives in place to support the mission. By hosting the 9th edition of Aegis Graham Bell Awards, one of the largest initiative to applaud the innovators, we are very affirmative that our young innovators will reap the benefits of the same."

Aegis School of Business, Data Science, Cyber Security and Telecommunication has established the Aegis Graham Bell Award as a tribute to the father of telephony, Alexander Graham Bell. This Award is intended to promote innovations in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to provide recognition for outstanding contributions by the innovators. The award is powered by mUni Campus. It is organised with the support of Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), and Telecom Centres of Excellence (TCOE) India, a public-private partnership initiative of DoT with 08 Centres at premier academic institutes (06 IITs, IISc and IIMA) of the country, each supported by a Telecom Service Provider and Convergence India and KPMG as knowledge partner.
