Bangalore, October 14 2018: Online  supermarket  Big Basket  has launched a new service, BB Instant,  merging offline, onsite and online elements. 
Initially launched in 29 apartment complexes in Bangalore,   BB   has placed vegetables and popular food  items in each complex in refrigerated  compartments. Users need to download the BB app from Google play  ( find here) and  select their Apartment name ( there are 4 today in the Kadugodi area of Whitefield).
The app displays, items available and  the number of units is updated in real time. Currently,  Sodexo and Paytm, are the only payment options available.
Once a selection is made of an available item, payment is debited and the  tray opens so that the buyer can remove his or her purchase.
Since the facility is unmanned and available around the clock, it will be useful especially at night hours if you  need a quick sachet of milk or dahi or a loaf of bread. A small selection of fresh vegetables is also available.
