Bangalore, March 13 2016: Five students  of the International Institute  of Information Technology - Bangalore (IIIT-B)  have emerged global winners of a mobile app  hackathon organised by Malaysia-based construction industry technology providers, Hilti.
Students and graduates from all over the world joined the competition to create  compelling  mobile apps to  enhance the productivity of Hilti sales and marketing  or improve the customer experience.
After three rounds of shortlisting, 10 best teams from all over the world were invited to Hilti's office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for the grand finale   between February  22 and 26 this year.  The IIIT-B students  were chosen to represent India at this event.  With 200 teams from over 26 countries competing for the title of the "Best International Team", the following teams made it into the final 3:  Australia, Malaysia and India. 
Team India   took first place in the finals. They had created  an AI Augmented  Reality app  for Hilti's customers, so that they can obtain quick information about the products by just scanning them using their mobile device.
As part of the price, the  Indian fivesome -- Akshay Jindal, Anubhav Bhardwaj, Lijo Johny,  Sanat and  Rakesh V. Abhijay -   have won an all expense paid trip to USA or Europe  plus  paid  internships at Hilti's Kuala Lumpur office for this summer.
