With DSLR quality camera capabilities, the ASUS Zenfone Zoom takes smartphone photography to a next level

January 26 2016:   ASUS   has recently unveiled the latest device from its Zenfone series, the ASUS Zenfone Zoom   and as the name suggests, the highlight of this smartphone is its 3x optical zoom.

While launching the phone at an event here , Jerry Shen, ASUS CEO said, “Photography has become extremely important for today’s smartphone users. Consumers want to capture every precious moment of their lives on their smartphone cameras, and also be able to perform multiple tasks with the same device.”

He added, “With ZenFone Zoom, we are introducing an unbeatable smartphone that complements today’s lifestyle and puts professional photography within the reach of everyone.”

With advanced camera features, the Zenfone Zoom is ideal for those who want DSLR quality pictures from their smartphones.  Using the 13-megapixel PixelMaster rear camera with 3x optical zoom and a 10 element Hoya lens, the picture quality from this smartphone’s is crisp, clear and steady.  There’s a 12x magnification that gets you clear close up shots. The 4 stops optical image stabilization ensures that the zoomed pictures are steady without any blur.  It also features a macro mode, which can take detailed macro shots of up to 5cm.

We got a chance to try out few of these features at their launch event and feel that the pictures taken from the ASUS Zenfone Zoom looked quite professional.  The selfie camera of the Zenfone Zoom is of 5 megapixels, which features the dual-LED Real Tone flash and a laser auto-focus.

The ASUS Zenfone Zoom is powered by Intel’s 64-bit SuperQuad-core processor with 4 GB RAM. “Powered by the 2.5GHz Intel Atom processor Z3590, the new Zenfone Zoom is a premium device that raises the bar with its revolutionary camera capabilities, high performance, stunning graphics and great battery life,” said Anand Ramamoorthy, Director Consumption Sales, South Asia, Intel.

Design-wise, the ZenFone Zoom features a 5mm thick body with dedicated buttons for camera operations.  It has a metal body with pure leather back.  It features a 5.5-inch display with 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) resolution.  This smartphone runs on Android 5.0 (Lollipop) along with the ASUS ZenUI. It has a 128 GB internal memory, which can be expanded via memory card.

The phone is now available on Flipkart for Rs. Rs. 37,999. ASUS has also bundled the ZenFlash and a tripod with the phone, which is available for 39,999.
