NASSCOM launches mega startup initiative to kickstart innovation

Bangalore, April 21, 2013: The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM),  organized a  StartupRoots  event in the city in partnership with NextBig, as part of the recently launched ‘10,000 start-ups’ programme. With an aim to evangelize the entrepreneurial landscape in the country, NASSCOM invited early stage entrepreneurs to attend enriching sessions from some successful startups founders and active angel investors.

Said KK Natarajan, Chairman, NASSCOM: “We have received an overwhelming response for the 10,000 Start-ups program with over 2000 start-up applications in the last 20 days. Our goal is to help these startups scale up their business and also globally position India as `the innovative startup destination’. The Silicon valley roadshow planned by 10,000 Start-ups will be an important first step in that direction.”

Added Rajan Anandan, Member – Executive Council, NASSCOM, said, “India has all the qualities to become one of the world’s most innovative startup ecosystems. With 10,000 Start-ups we are trying to connect the dots and put together a concerted effort to convert the latent excitement into real companies that can contribute to the economy.”

The programme has already received over 2000 startup applications. In a short period of time, 10,000 Start-ups has organized 15 events across 10 key cities, engaged with 25,000 entrepreneurs and launched an online learning center with 75+ videos which has already received 30,000 minutes of video consumption.
In the next 90 days, 10,000 Start-ups plans to  accelerate the momentum of execution with:50 start-up events across the country and India’s largest hackathon titled ‘Megathon’  and do a Silicon Valley Roadshow with 15 innovative start-ups.
