Bangalore Feb 13, 2014: Societe Generale Global Solution Centre (SG GSC), a subsidiary of the French banking and financial services company Societe Generale, has launched the fourth phase of their scholarship programme — ‘SG GSC India Talent Scholarship’.
Since its launch in 2010, the programme has provided scholarship to 45 deserving students from premier institutes, such as Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, (IIM A), Indian Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli (IIM T) Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM B), Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIM K), Indian School of Business, Hyderabad (ISB), and International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT-B).
The 2013 program saw an increase in the number of students chosen for scholarship, with 16 students being selected for the prestigious scholarship this year.
Xavier Lofficial, Chief Executive Officer of SG GSC said that he was glad that they have been able to make a small but meaningful difference to the future aspirations of deserving students through the program. The fact that all students supported by SG GSC had built successful careers in leading organizations across the globe reflected the success of this program. He added that when Sundararajan Raghavendran, a student who received the scholarship in 2011, secured the first place at the graduation of the 2013 batch of IIM- Bangalore, his belief that the program was successful, was proven beyond doubt.
In 2013, the program received around 158 applications from the selected institutes. Over and above the financial need of the students, the selection process also focused on the academic track record, ambition, positive approach towards life and leadership qualities.
The mentorship program, an integral part of Scholarship which assures that every student is mentored by a senior leader from SG GSC, remains one of the mainstays of the programme this year as well. The mentorship program has been successful in providing students a direct interface with the corporate world, enhancing their communication skills and giving them the confidence to face the challenging world outside.
