India Internet has reached inflection point : IAMAI

New Delhi, February 1, 2014: Studies by the Internet And Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) suggest internet has reached an inflection point in the country.
Internet users has grown impressively over the years, and registered a Year-on-Year growth of 28% in 2012 and 39%.in 2013. The growth of internet users has also led to a substantial growth of other digital industries such as e-commerce and digital advertising.
Mobile Internet in India also witnessed significant growth rate. While in 2012, Mobile Internet grew 111%, during 2013 the growth was 63%.
The impact of internet penetration has seen a huge spurt in digital commerce. While in December 2007, the Digital Commerce market stood at Rs 81.46 billion (8,146 crore), by December 2012 it was Rs 473.49 billion (47,349 crore). By December 2013, Digital Commerce in India grew to a whopping Rs 629.67 billion (62,967 crore). Between December 2011 & December 2012, the segment witnessed 35% growth while the segment grew by 33% between December 2012 and December 2013.
Digital Advertising has also been witnessing a steady growth. The online advertising market in India is projected to reach Rs 29.38 Billion (2,938 Crores) by March 2014, The year-on-year growth in 2012 was 40% while in 2013, year-on-year growth stood at 30%
