November 28 2011: Global Security and storage management solutions leader, Symantec, has made the Cloud central to its latest product suite. The release announced in India and Asia-Pac last week spans multiple products in Symantec’s portfolio including its flagship Veritas Storage Foundation 6.0, Veritas Cluster Server 6.0, and Veritas Operations Manager 4.1, all tightly integrated to help IT organizations move confidently to a private cloud architecture.
Says: Anand Naik, director, Technology Sales (India & SAARC), Symantec: “IT architects appreciate the promise of the private cloud, but they are grappling with very real questions,” said. “How do I transform my infrastructure to make it more agile? How do I give it the characteristics of a public cloud without compromising on availability and security?”
Most business critical applications today are multi-tiered with web, application, middleware, and database layers sitting across multiple servers, across platforms, across physical and virtual environments and using different types of storage. Ensuring end-to-end availability of the business service is a challenge today. And Symantec offers to help over come the challenge
A 2011 Symantec study finds that India is Asia Pacific's fastest growing SaaS market, estimating that by 2012, India's SaaS market will grow to $352 million from $10 million in 2009.(Springboard Research) . A third of Indian enterprises are discussing private/hybrid cloud adoption but 43 % of the CFOs’ and CEO’s are cautious when it comes to putting mission critical applications onto the cloud.
Symantec suggests to such enterprises: Get the Private Cloud you want from the infrastructure you’ve already got.
Huzefa Motiwala, Symantec’s Regional Manager, Systems Engineering explained in a teleconference that their solution offers what he called “ a single pane of glass” which makes reporting and remediation easy.
