Mumbai January 31, 2016 Findurclass.com, an extra-curricular activity and hobby class curation start-up, has raised a fresh round of funding from a set of investors, including members of VentureNursery, India’s first angel backed accelerator.
Since its launch in March 2015, the hobby class curator has seen tremendous growth and traction in Mumbai with over 20,000 classes listed on the platform. Over 100 categories listed range from Art and Craft, Sports and Adventure, Singing, Music and Dance to Cooking and Photography among others.
The platform not only aggregates trainers hyper locally but also curates classes keeping in mind safety, security, hygiene and instructor quality. Users can “experience” the class through videos, photographs and read user reviews before taking a decision and paying online.
FindUrClass was founded by Rina Nathani, a consulting veteran who has spent over a decade with KPMG’s Advisory Practice in New York. Nathani graduated from VentureNursery’s Season 5 acceleration batch in 2014.
This is the second time that VentureNursery members have invested in the start-up. Prominent angel investors who participated in the round include Amit Patni, Anirudh Damani and Samir Shah.
The start-up will use the additional funds received in this round to scale up and expand to other Tier 1 cities. The company recently expanded to Pune and Bangalore with over 5000 classes to choose from in each.
"With FindUrClass choosing a class to pursue passions, hobbies and activities is now an informed and pleasurable experience,” says Rina Nathani.
“Our experience in Mumbai pointed to a growing trend among Indian families to invest about one-third of their education spend on extracurricular activities. This trend is driven by the growing emphasis on overall development of kids and more and more young Indians opting for passion based careers,” says FindUrClass Founder and CEO Rina Nathani.
As curators, FindUrClass has also been building the ecosystem for activities. In addition to working with leading international schools to strengthen their after school extracurricular activity programs, the company also launched ‘UR Family Activity Pass’ giving more families more options to engage in activities together.
Rina Nathani says, “The response to ‘UR Family Activity Pass’ was beyond our expectations! We had families cooking together, participating in a sports-a-thon or even solving crimes. We will definitely be rolling out more of these in the future.”
