Iris, India's first AI teacher robot from Maker Labs unveiled in Kerala school

Iris, India's first artificial intelligence (AI) teacher robot, was unveiled in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala capturing the imagination of onlookers and paving the way for what will surely be an educational revolution in the years to come.

Developed by Maker Labs, Iris was unveiled at KTCT Higher Secondary School in the city. The ceremony was graced by Dr. K Rajeev, director of the Space Physics Laboratory (SPL) of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC).

Maker Labs described Iris as a transformative leap in educational innovation, aiming to personalize lessons based on individual student needs and preferences. Iris possesses adaptive teaching methods to empower educators to deliver engaging lessons and redefine the educational experience, according to multiple reports.

 

The robot leverages generative AI technologies to provide a seamless performance using its dedicated Intel processor and coprocessor. It’s Android App interface allows user control, ensuring a tailored learning experience for students.

The AI robot engages users in interactive learning experiences through personalized content, quizzes, and activities. Its mobility is facilitated by a 4-wheel chassis, enabling interaction with users and navigation through learning spaces. Its hands, featuring 5 Degrees of Freedom each, enable it to manipulate objects, enhancing the overall learning experience.
