Facebook soon, in 8 Indian languages on your mobile

New Delhi, April 4 2012: The Social networking website Facebook has announced availability of a mobileapp to access the site in Hindi -- to be followed over the next few weeks by seven other Indian languages --Gujarati, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Punjabi, Bengali and Marathi. The app can be downloaded by entering d.facebook.com/install directly into a mobile browser.
Says Kevin D'Souza,Facebook's Country Growth Manager, India, : "With over 50 million people in India on Facebook, we want to make sure that everyone has a great Facebook mobile experience regardless of the device that they choose to use".
The application was originally launched in July 2011 and now works on more than 3600 Java-enabled phones around the world. Facebook has some 800 million monthly active users and over 350 million mobile users worldwide. It claims 46 million monthly active users in India -- -- an increase of 132 per cent from the previous year.

  "Only problem I saw on my iPhone was that when you click the arrow to go to the next blog entry, it takes you to the next entry in the ctaogery not the next entry in the timeline i.e. the previous article to be published.Steve: I don't have an iPhone and cannot verify how it behaves. The next and previous article links work ok on a Blackberry. Can you send me a screenshot from the iPhone showing what you see?"
