NI's Victor Mieres  to head NI's marketing ops in Asia and emerging markets

National Instruments veteran Victor Mieres has moved from Austin, Texas to Singapore as the graphical systems design and virtual instrumentation leader’s vice president for Emerging Markets, Asia/Rest of World (RoW) region, He will be responsible for NI’s sales, marketing, and support operations in India, Russia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Australia, and Africa.
A regular visitor to India in his earlier avatar as NI’s Vice President Sales (Asia), he was in India last week for the NI Days conference in Bangalore http://indiatechonline.com/ni-days-bangalore-2012-896.php   where he said: “We are excited about the significant contribution NI India makes to the overall success of the emerging markets.”
Victor has spent the major portion of his 20-year career at National Instruments establishing many of the company’s business operations outside of the United States, including Greater China, Korea, Eastern Europe, Brazil, India and Russia In his new role, he hopes to capitalize on the region’s existing success and lead it to help create an organization that can best scale to meet the company’s long-term opportunities.
Victor will continue to direct and expand the popular Planet NI programme he designed in 2008, to encourage engineers in emerging countries to achieve sustainable prosperity by providing them with increased access to NI technology. Under Victor’s leadership, the Planet NI program has grown to more than 20 countries  in four years.
Prior to joining NI,  Victor  served as a senior field engineer for Schlumberger in Southeast Asia. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from Simón Bolívar University in Venezuela and Stanford University, respectively. http://www.ni.com/company/our-vision/leadership/mieres.htm
