Bangalore, March 19, 2012: India-based global IT and services leader Infosys, has announced a new fillip to its product development activities, with a planned doubling of its 500-strong R&D team within two years.
The company's Bangalore-based Product Research and Development Centre, is mandated to develope products and platforms driven by global mega trends, including digital consumers, emerging economies, new commerce and healthcare. It will also create intellectual properties around Infosys products and platforms, leveraging technologies in the areas of cloud computing, mobility, analytics, and social media, even while pioneering new approaches to accelerate innovation, enhance product architectures and shorten release cycles.

The new developmental thrust in a company best known for leadership in the IT services sector appears to be a fallout of the vision for Infosys -- version 3.0 --articulated at its last annual general meeting.
