January 25 2022: Hewlett Packard has followed through on its announcement last month that it will manufacture multiple PC products in India, including laptops, desktops, All-in-Ones (AIOs), and monitors in India, in the plants of its contract manufacturer, Flex, in Sriperumbudur near Chennai.
The move is part of HP’s 'Make in India' initiative and some of these products will be available on the GeM (Government e-Marketplace) portal to meet the demands of the government departments and other customers.
“The proximity of the Flex facility to the Chennai port improves operational efficiency and ease of sourcing of raw materials for manufacturing laptops and other PC products,” HP said at the time.
Today, very similar full page advertisements in two national newspapers, Times of India and The Hindu, unveiled computing devices like displays, laptops and desktops to flow from its Indian manufacturing units that have Intel and AMD processors in parallel product lines.
HP's AMD -based PCs and laptops have been less pricey than those with 'Intel inside' with similar specification.
