TataSky to operate its own satellite, ISRO to build it

October 23 2021:   Direct-to-Home TV service provider  TataSky, is to have its own dedicated  communication satellite to fuel its services. 
NewSpace India Ltd (NSIL), the commercial arm of  the Indian Space Research Organisation has confirmed that it will soon launch a 4-tonne Ku-bandsatellite – named GSAT-24 --  specifically to serve TataSky.
This would be the first instance of ISRO launching a satellite against a commercial  requirement
The satellite, which will be owned and operated by NSIL, and will carry 24 Ku-band transponders,  to be used by TataSky will be built by ISRO. The cost is approximately Rs 400 crore ( Rs 4 billion).
The satellite will be launched by the French firm Arianespace
