Paris, France, March 14, 2017: At a global launch here yesterday,   Samsung Electronics, unveiled a new generation of TVs based on its proprietary technology of  Metal Quantum Dots married to LED –which it calls QLED.
Simultaneously the company launched its vision of  television as works of   art, complementing other art on your walls, and in effect,  ‘working’ even when you are not viewing programes.
HS Kim, President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, said the company chose Paris for the launch as the, “the City of Lights,” perfectly reflected the characteristic of the “TV of Light,” a name given to the QLED TV for its optimal brightness levels.
With new metal quantum dots, the QLED TV enhances  picture quality, viewing angle, color volume, brightness and bold contrast, he said,  achieveing  a 100 percent color volume – the highest on the market today.
The QLED TV continues down the path of   4K and High Dynamic Ratio, with its  advanced HDR 1500 functionality allows users to see every hidden detail with no loss or distortion of color. The  new Samsung One Remote Control now supports all attached peripherals and offers voice control capabilities.
The QLED TV range,  across  3 ranges – Q7, Q8 and Q9 --  spans screen sizes from 49 inches to 88 inches, and will be available from May 2017.
In a major redesign, the new models, significantly reduce the cat’s cradle of wires traditionally to be found behind the set with an  all-new Invisible Connection single  optical cord system.
Consumers can now design their space   and not be captive to the TV, Samsung designers explained.
India specific TV
While announcing an India-specific Connected TV  designed for  sub-optimal Internet connections and the ability to mirror all content from a smart phone, Samsung also unveiled more examples of TV-as-Art. These are sets with ultra thin bezels which look like art frames.  The Frame TV, can display any among a pre loaded catalogue of 100 plus works of great art – serving an artistic and  aesthetic purpose in the hours it is not being used as a TV.
The Frame is outfitted with Samsung’s new Invisible Connection and No Gap Wall-mount, allowing users to hang it anywhere because it can blend seamlessly into any living space without unsightly cables or wires. Frame is due for release later in2017
