May 3 2016: Had India's  well loved and widely respected  cartoonist-painter Mario Miranda lived , he would have been ninety today.
The India edition of Google honours him with a doodle this morning, with one of his many  paintings depicting the Indian monsoon.  A sight for sore eyes in these parched  days!
Mario   passed away on December 11 2011 in his  home state of Goa after a lifetime of amusing and stimulating readers of  the Illustrated  Weekly of India  ( now defunct) as well as Economic Times, FilmFare and other publications of the Times of India group.
