Bangalore, january 29, 2014: UL Cyberpark, the first IT park in the Kozhikode ( Calicut) region of Kerala state has the distinction of being owned and operated by a cooperative of contract labourers, dating back to 1921 -- the Uralungal Labour Contract Coop Society.
The 3 million sq. feet-plus IT Park is a green building and LEED certified IT Park developed as an IT/ITES Special Economic Zone. The 10 storey project costing Rs 600 crore ( Rs 6 billion) was designed by renowned architect Nikken Sekkei and is ready to take new occupants.
UL Cyberpark CEO Ajith Kumar and Chierf Operating Officer Lt Cdr( retd) S. Arun were on hand in Bangalore at the media event where the state IT Minister PK, Kunhalkutty launched the promotional activities of the park. ( see our main story)
It is only one of the innovative initiatives of the cooperative society which also runs:
- UL Technology Solutions which since 2012, has bween providing geospatial solutions to government and private agencies.
- The Sargalaya Craft Village which provides a platform for tourists from across the world to visit and understand the handicraft trade in Kerala and
