Software Defined Networks will provide competitive edge for telecom providers: Overture
Overture Networks' global and Indian leadership

Bangalore, March 6 2014: Software Defined Networks (SDNs) may be the agni asthra or magic bullet that  will enable Communication Service Providers  leveragethe   business opportunity  that lies in Cloud services for connect, compute and storage requirements, feels  Carrier Ethernet solutions leader, Overture Networks.
SDN is a framework for open, programmable interfaces  enabling a high degree of automation in provisioning services. Hand in hand with  Network Function Virtualization (NFV) – a technique for creating network services using commercial off-the-shelf hardware rather than purpose-built appliances -- it will help CSPs to maximize operational efficiencies, while  enabling customers to deploy and exploit smarter networks, said   Mike Aquino, Overture's President and CEO, in a special briefing for IndiaTechOnline last week.
Today's convergence of IT, communications, and network services in the cloud is radically transforming the way in which communication  services are delivered.  It requires a level of automation  no longer possible  with today’s proprietary networking equipment architectures.
Overture's Ensemble OSA  is the first  open architecture in the industry that  brings the twin benefits of SDN and NFV  the  edge of the network, he added.
Overture  recently expanded its India presence and grew its Bangalore engineering centre to address these new  technology challenges.  The teams here are actively involved in    the entire  product development process.  Sunil Menon, Vice President and  head of Overture's India operations    said the company’s Bangalore team is contributing to multiple components within the Ensemble OSA portfolio including the Ensemble Network Controller.
