Storage leader NetApp to set up R&D Centre in Bangalore

Bangalore, January 31, 2014: International storage and data management solutions leader NetApp has taken the first step towards setting up a world-class research and development (R&D) facility in Bangalore.
The nearly one million square foot facility will offer working, collaboration, and recreational spaces to foster continued innovation and cross-functional collaboration. Spread over 15 acres, the new facility will include a highly efficient, 25,000 square foot data center to support global development and business operations. The facility is scheduled for completion in late 2015.
Said Deepak Visweswaraiah, Vice President and Managing Director, NetApp India, soon after a ground breaking ceremony for the new R&D facility: . “The availability of world-class talent, advanced infrastructure, and proximity to the booming emerging markets of the world are key reasons behind this significant investment. This development is an outcome of a commitment NetApp made to the Karnataka government by signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at the Global Investors Meeting in 2012. -- which is why M.N. Vidyashankar, Additional Chief Secretary Commerce and Industries Department, Government of Karnataka was part of the ceremony.
