Bangalore, August 13, 2013: Business process and document management leader Xerox has introduced   multi function printers in four series of their WorkCentre  range, fuelled by new technology that tightly integrates the printer to the cloud on one hand and to user's mobile devices on the other. As a result,   the technology called Xerox ConnectKey, breathes intelligence into  documents and a slew of new user-friendly features into the printer.

At a release event in Bangalore today,  Anil Arora, Xerox India's General Manager and Head -- Business Solution and Services,  gave a demo of the power of ConnectKey by  feeding a printout of an Excel spreadsheet into the printer, to have it scanned and  turned into a live  and editable Excel sheet where one could make changes to  data fields,  store the document in soft form or send it to any ConnectKey-enabled printer anywhere  and have it printed remotely.
The tool similarly handles most popular document formats like Word, PowerPoint or PDF.Virtually eliminating the PC or server as a necessary element of the printer's ecosystem,  ConnectKey significantly strengthens -- and simplifies -- the system manager's  function with a whole slate of remote management options  that include the ability to  set multiple printer  defaults -- a Powerpoint would  automatically print 6 to a page;  web downloads would print in monochrome and colour can be controlled to kick in at certain hours,  or  be inhibited on certain days -- unless overridden.

ConnectKey is the new operating system and controller for Xerox multifunction printers (MFPs).

·        One can print from just about any device from anywhere.

·        Documents can be scanned directly to cloud services like Google Drive, Evernote, Office 365 for storage and collaboration – right from the MFP touch screen

·        The new common user interface also allows anyone in the workforce to easily connect into the company’s business processes

·        For IT professionals, this common user interface as well as embedded security protection from McAfee allows MFPs to be managed and protected as easily as the rest of the network

The ConnectKey MFP platform has an open API system. That means sales channel partners, systems integrators and resellers can develop applications and embed them on the MFP with no additional software requirements

Industry firsts include the ability to:

·        Scan excel sheets directly in native excel editable formats & scan to searchable PDFs for easy retrieval

·        Remote access of MFPs by technical experts for training & break-fix services for faster customer response time

·        Connect-Key Apps- Users can download free Apps from Xerox Website directly on MFPs just like we do on our business phones

·        Directly  print  from iOS ( Apple) enabled devices.

Xerox India's Executive Director, Technology, Channels and International Business, Vipin Tuteja,  quoted Gartner's finding that  companies spend an average of 1.3% of  annual budget on printing, to suggest that  ConnectKey was a key inflection point in the way  printers could be intelligently -- and economically --deployed.

To  enable the current trend of Bring Your Own Device or BOYD, Xerox has  created free apps  like the Mobile Express Driver which  Automatically detects your location based on your local network, tells you instantly which printers are online and available to you every time you print, sorts devices in your printer list based on status, location, name, etc,  displays detailed feature options to help you choose the best printer for your job... and importantly, works with Xerox and non-Xerox PostScript  printers.

The new printers fuelled by ConnectKey include WorkCentre 7830/7835/7845/7855MFPs; WorkCentre 5845/5855/ 5865/5875/5890  MFPs as well printers  in the 7200,  and CQ9300 series.

M. Venkat RaoXerox India's Regional Business Head for South India explained that 7 of India's top cities for MFP business lie in the South. The company has blanketed all 103 districts in the southern states with 60 plus direct  presence and  300 'feet on street' sales and service personnel.
