Targets SMEs who print around 60,000 pages a month
If you run a small enterprise, your printing needs will typically require black and white out put most of the time – but with the ability to go colour on occasion. Inkjets are not the answer – they are not very good for fast monochrome job works and entry level lasers are not the answer either: you need a separate printer for the colour work.
Xerox has just launched a colour laser printer in the Indian market that seems like a good solution for customers like these: a fast and reasonably economic printer when used for monochrome output and good sharp colour, not much slower in the colour mode. The print speeds claimed may not always be achievable in actual use since these numbers tend to be achieved by the sort of standard print material, we never seem to find in actual use. But the Phaser 6280 is nevertheless a sturdy work horse for offices whose monthly print volume is in the 50,000 to 60,000 sheets range.
The 6280 N is a single side printer while the 6280DN is a duplex printer. The duplex speeds are quite fast compared to some competing makes and is only slightly slower than one sided speeds.
The default tray takes only 250 sheets which is a bit of a nuisance since it is always easier to load a full packet of 500 sheets. For this you have to be order an extra 550 sheet tray.
The 6280 comes with a 256 MB memory, expandable to 1280 MB and you can also add a 40 GB hard drive for local storage – useful when so many web print jobs today can bypass the PC completely. The replacement drum/ separate colour toner cartridges come in 2 sizes, standard and high capacity.
