Amsterdam/Bangalore October 23 2012:Global leader in semiconductor solutions for wired and wireless communication, Broadcom, has become the first Silicon Provider to Integrate the broadband remote management Protocol TR-069 across its entire broadband carrier access platforms. The company made the announcement on the sidelines of the just-concluded Broadband World Forum (BBWF) in Amsterdam.
In a concurrent announcement the Broadband Forum launched its BBF.069 CPE Certification Program and announced the first certified devices. The certification program verifies if devices are TR-069 compliant. TR-069, also known as CPE WAN Management Protocol, is the remote management standard used around the world to provision and manage the Connected Home. The first BBF.069 certifications, have been issued to Broadcom, Cisco, D-Link, Huawei and Lantiq.
Broadcom’s TR-069 protocol support now extends across all (xDSL, EPON, GPON) and HomePlug Powerline Networking (PLC) platforms. This enables new levels of management across multiple connected devices in the network. carriers can now gather key management and performance information to improve customer video, VoIP and data services. TR-069 features include:
Remote management to upgrade modems and firmware with new features in real time and resolve installation and configuration problems.
Remote management of a user’s home network to access real-time data, diagnose problems quickly and improve customer service.
Acquisition of home network performance to proactively solve problems and evaluate the performance of network technologies.
Easily upgradeable and certifiable with a common code base across all Broadcom carrier access platforms to provide fast and reliable deployment of new software versions and data models across the entire product range.
