Patton brings newest SmartNode VoIP media gateway to India

Chennai April 13 2012: A new and higher capacity Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) media gateway supporting over 2048 voice / data calls is being offered in India by the US-based leader in this niche, Patton Electronics. Patton’s India arm, the Chennai-based PE-Inalp Networks says, the SmartNode™ 10200 VoIP media gateway series is tailor made for telecom carriers, BPOs and large enterprises.
The newest member of the SmartNode family supports up to 2048 SIP/H.248 voice or T.30/T.38 fax calls, and T1/E1, DS3 or STM-1/OC3 trunks with SS7 signalling. By providing trans coding among all voice codecs and signalling protocols, it ensures seamless interoperation with all major soft switches.
Says Aveek Roy, Vice President - South Asia: “The new product family expands Patton's SmartNode portfolio far beyond its former 2-to-120-call range and brings an integrated carrier grade scalable media gateway platform to the Indian market. With its capability to expand from 16 E1 to 63 E1 and provide a single box solution for SS7 / SIGTRAN / ISDN, the SN10200 will address the entire media and signalling unified gateway equipment needs in India for both Carriers and Enterprises”.
Telecom Carriers can seamlessly transition their legacy service networks to IP-centric architectures, with SN10200 in the Core. They can deploy it as a CPE to deliver high-density VoIP and TDM voice concurrently. For large enterprises and call centers, the SN10200 interconnects traditional and iPBX phone systems, to deliver high-volume SIP trunking with up to 90 completed calls per second.
SmartNode users in India include Chennai Port Trust, Indian Air Force (IAF), large oil groups such as IOCL and NOCL as well as over 120 calls across industry verticals including ITSPs, Call Centr s, Travel Services Companies etc.
