HP Labs India creates personalized video streaming tool
Share, expore and annotate your videos

Allows users to select, share and explore video content.
From Vishnu Anand in Bangalore.
The fact that 71 percent of Indian Internet users have streamed online videos on their devices, with less than 1percent of them having broadband connections has urged HP Labs to create an application targeted at these users. Additionally, HP's believes that non-English speaking countries will fuel internet video consumption in order to transcend language barriers. The new tool helps users personalize their video viewing experience via user-generated channels. The tool allows users to create their own video 'channels' based on topics of their choice and the video search engine will deliver videos based on a keyword match algorithm.
Says Sudhir Dixit, Director of HP Labs in India, "The main aim of piloting these video applications is for us to understand user preferences and gather feedback for future innovations." He added, "At HP, our aim is to innovate using video for the next 1 billion customers of HP -- and thus we hope to carry forward our innovation and collaboration strategies to see this through."
From a user perspective, some of the things that the new application lets you do are annotate videos, fine web pages relevant to the video content, provide avenues to share these videos with friends, via Facebook and Twitter, and enjoy non-stop content relevant to keyword searches.
The application, currently in its beta stage is available for free download at www.personalized-video.com
