The convergence of PC and TV is finally a reality -- fuelled by the Internet. Pune-based Content Highway Networks Pvt Ltd, has launched the BYT ( for BoxYourTV.com) Internet TV solution in India with two hand-held products:one a TV-remote like device, the other, a games console-cum keypad. Both are sourced from the US-based iGuGu group and its connected TV platform. At the national launch during the Convergence India show in Delhi on Friday, CHPL Managing Director Saloni Shah, said both devices would be available nationally for around Rs 5500 -- an interesting price point that is much more affordable compared to games consoles, but harnesses a dedicated library of online games to provide a comparable experience. The BYT platform will offer hundreds of games and movies for free -- to kickstart usage, she explained. Both devices work with a small interface box which brings Internet connectivity to the TV set.

CHPL also unveiled another device -- the BYT MC 5001 -- which extends capability to High Definition content, It is slated to be launched soon at will cost around Rs 7500.

Mahonry Sanchez, Vice President for Business Development at the San Diego (US) - headquartered iGuGu, said the company was very excited to be the first to bring affordable PC-TV-Net convergence to Indin consumers, while offering a new opportunity for local content developers.
