Micro Star International (MSI) has brought its first Tablet PC -- The WindPad 100W to India – almost 9 after it was launched last year at the ComputexTaipei event. But by untethering users from some of the restrictions of the Apple iPad, which also became formally available here last week for the first time, and a few nifty features of its own, the WindPad has found favour with reviewers since its launch. ( a second edition with an NVIDIA Tegra chips has since been launched by MSI).
The WindPad features a features a 10-inch 1024 x 600 multi-touch capacitive screen, a 1.66GHz Intel Z530 processor, a 2GB RAM, 32GB SSD, a gravity sensing device, dual webcams, Wi-Fi, 3G, GPS receiver, HDMI port and two USB ports. The device runs Windows 7 Home premium – which alone will appeal to many buyers. In addition MSI includes its own WindTouch user interface with four major functions—work, entertainment, tools, and network. It integrates a number of frequently used applications, like MSI’s own EasyViewer photo management software; a multimedia player that can be used for MSN, Skype, and IE; Windows Multimedia Center; and a web phone
With external dimensions of 274x173x18.5 mm, it weighs just 800g
The MSI WindPad 100W will be available in India exclusively at over 12 e-Zone outlets across Mumbai for the initial launch at a price of Rs.34,990.
