Karnataka to set up smart classrooms in 50 govt colleges in a pilot scheme

Bangalore, November 27 2014: The  Karnataka government has decided  to set up Smart Classrooms in  50 government colleges  as the first step in its  ambitious plans to e-nable the higher education system in the state.
Electronic content by way  video lectures, audio  and e-books and e-lecture notes,  for undergraduate course syllabii as well as personality development  is already being made available.
Higher Education Minister R V Deshpande said here  last week : "This measure is intended to supplement the traditional course delivery system by enabling the students to access useful online OpenCourseWare content offline and bypass the bottleneck of text book production."
To make it happen the state plans to create WiFi networks in  over 100 First Grade colleges.
