First flagship of 2018

Samsung has started the year with a device that mixes style and performance in right proportions
Bangalore, January 16 2018:In the smart phone arena, the definition of a flagship has evolved over the last year. It's no longer the most expensive and hyped device, but rather an innovative mix of specs and design that stands out from the crowd, or offers an entirely unheard of feature. Samsung, with its wide range of offerings is trying to pack in flagship features at not-so-flagship price points. An ideal example of this is its first launch of 2018 -- the Galaxy A8+.
The A8+ comes with a 6 inch Super AMOLED screen with an infinity display in an 18.5:9 ratio. The glass and metal frame gives it a sturdy yet classy look, and the edges are smooth, giving the device good hand-feel. The combination of the display ratio and the screen ensures that you can pretty much view your videos end-to-end on the screen, and slightly beyond the bezel as well.
The device is powered by a 2.2 GHz Octa-core processor and is available in a 6GB + 64GB (expandable to 256 GB) memory configuration. With a 3,500 mAh battery, the device is expected to stay on for a reasonably long duration of time. The A8+ is IP68 certified for dust and water resistance. One interesting feature of this device is the 16MP + 8MP dual front camera, with live focus and bokeh effects, and special in-built features to capture better selfies even in ultra low-light scenarios. It comes with a 16MP back camera. Along with this, the Always On display feature allows users to get notifications without having to unlock their devices. Of course, the A8+ is also equipped with Samsung Pay and supports Samsung Gear VR.
While the Galaxy S series remains the flagship range for Samsung in the true sense of the word, the A8+ has incorporated many good features of the S series into it, making it a slightly less expensive device with top-of-line specs and features. The Galaxy A8+ is available from January 20th, exclusively in Amazon. Available in black and gold, the device is priced at Rs. 32,990. VISHNU ANAND
