Phone with SOS button

Bangalore, February 27 2017: After the  spate of incidents  involving, the Indian government mandated that phones launched in India must have a special SOS or panic button. The January 2017 date for this  has come and gone, with Industry expressing difficultly in sticking to the time table. Indeed few global companies  have been willing to make  structural changes required to  carry out this government mandate.
One company that has done so is LG Electronics  which last week launched its new ‘Dhaakad’ smartphone   ( LG K10) with safety & design features and a special ‘panic button’ according to  the Government of India guidelines.
This makes LG Electronics is the first company to adhere to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) recommendation to have a single number ‘112’ for all emergency calls in the mobile phones across the country, which is referred to as the Panic Button implementation.
The button is a key under the  camera, which needs to be pressed thrice to trigger the 112 alarm.
The K10 features a 5.3-inch HD  touch display with a  slim 7.9mm profile, 13MP rear camera & 5MP front camera with 120-degree wide angle selfie lens. Other advanced features include a fingerprint scanner, latest Android OS 7.0 with 4GVoLTE. RAM is 2 GB, with 16 GB storage expandable to 2TB.  The battery is 2800 mAh.  The K 10  coasts Rs 13,990.
