New Delhi, June 13, 2012 –  These days the TV experience is often inseparable from the Internet. While watching news or a moview, we like to access additional information from the Web. The answer was the  new generation of  Smart TVs, which come with an Internet umbilical --  but at a price that is usually in excess of Rs 1,00,000. 
Now Indian storage and  multimedia technology leader, Amkette, the has launched – EvoTV -- a first-of-its-kind television accessory device that lets users put ‘smart’ features including Internet into non-smart TVs. The product is based on Google’s Android platform. Some of the innovations of the EvoTV include: remote that houses a mike so that all conversations on VoIP (like Skype) are free of ambient noise; accelerometer in the remote that takes helps in gaming; integration of the Home Network for media and content from other media storage devices; and Evo Discover, a dynamic content discovery software that allows consumers to search, and retain video content from sources such as YouTube.
The TV changes from being a limited channel, to a large screen gaming station or movie and music on demand theatre, or a learning and education hub. The remote is the real heroand has the equivalent processing power of the device itself.
EvoTV will be available by June end in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata and elsewhere by the end of August 2012. The device is powered by twin processors, ARM Cortex A9 and ARM Mali 400 Graphics Processor. EvoTV seamlessly integrates the television with the internet.
Conceptualized, designed in India (Bangalore & Delhi) it took 14 months in the making. The MRP is Rs 12,995, but look out for street prices around Rs 10,000.
