Vivitek D5 series projectors: from 2D to 3D
Adding a third dimension... Vivitek D5 projector series

US based Vivitek Corporation has brought the D5 series of projectors to India. While capable of projecting 2D and 3D video in the native format, they can also convert 2D content into acceptable 3D without the use of an external box. The D5 series takes standard DVD and Blu-Ray content (via HDMI) and switches it from 2D to 3D. The three projectors can also display 3D content from 720p/1080i at 50/60Hz and 1080p at 24Hz from 3D Blu-Ray players or other 3D sources, such as cable or satellite boxes.
The D512-3D, D536-3D and D538W-3D feature DLP and BrilliantColor technologies for bright, digital images and high-efficiency lamps that  are said to last up to 4,000 hours (in economy mode).

The projectors may be useful for educational and home theatre applications – especially for owners who don’t have access to much 3D content right now. The 3-D glasses are not included.  2D images converted ijnto 3D may not match the brilliance of native 3D content -- but with so much legacy 2D movie content availabe with home theatre users, it is an acceptable solution, with reasonable depth conversion.

BluRay content from DVDs in 2D or 3D which by definition is full HD,  is downgraded from full 1080p to 720p while projecting but this may be imperceptible in a projected image.
Prices are : D512-3D INR 37,950; D536-3D INR 53,130 and D538W-3D INR 57,684
