LogMeIn debuts remote, secure access tool for iPhones, Ipad -- and soon for Android devices

Bangalore, February 3 2012: Indian enterprises are discovering the advantages of a 24/7 office where their employees have the ability to stay connected securely to their parent networks from an Internet access device of their choice -- desktop or laptop computers, smartphones, iPad and Android tablets.
The days of executives having to lug the same bulky company laptop from office to home to airport to hotel, so that they may work on a secure intranet might be over -- if more of them employed a cloud-based, remote access support and collaboration solution like LogMeIn.
A few Indian corporates who are already doing so include global services company Quattro, technical support player Lester India and banking solutions provider Yodlee. In Bangalore earlier this week, LogMeIn’s CEO Michael Simon and Senior VP ( Sales) Seth Shaw briefed IndiaTechOnline on recent enhancements to the flagship product that enable iPad and iPhone owners to take advantage of its remote access capabilities by simply downloading the free app from the Apple App Store and then installing LogMeIn Free on any PC or Mac which they wish to access.
By mid 2012, the application would also be available for users of Android phones and portable devices, Shaw added. Industry watcher IDC estimates that the number of mobile workers accessing enterprise systems worldwide will top the 1 billion mark this year --1.2 billion by 2013. LogMeIn's solutions already empower more than 13 million users connecting over 100 million devices.

“Mobile devices, most notably the iPad, have given rise to an entirely new audience looking to remotely access their computer files and applications on the go. Indeed, the mobile has become an increasingly important driver for introducing new people to LogMeIn’s services, and we believe we’re just scratching the surface of this growing demand,” says Simon.
The India-end of global companies like GE, Dell, Microsoft and SAP are already big users of LogMeIn, says  Anil Sharma, Director- Sales, India.

LogMeIn users can access an unlimited number of PCs and Macs from their devices (iPhone, iPad and iPod touch) through a highly secure yet simple connection (AES 256-bit encryption, SSL/TLS intrusion detection). They can remotely view and control their PCs and Macs as if the device were in their hands and run their computer-based business applications like Salesforce, Microsoft Office, Quickbooks, etc. on their device. They can view important files and other important information stored on a remote computer from anywhere with a WiFi or 3G connection.
While all these functions are available in the free app., LogMeIn Pro ( that is paid) users can in addition access and exchange High Definition (HD) streaming video and audio content with their PCs or iOS devices – and enjoy cloud storage integration between iOS devices, personal or work computers, and popular cloud services (e.g. Dropbox, Google Docs).
LogMeIn is based in Woburn, Massachusetts, USA, with offices in Australia, Hungary, India, Japan, the Netherlands, and the UK.
For a few days we have a video on LogMeIn in our TechVideo spot.
