Indian state partners with Intel to   localise educational web resource for  school math and science.

The IT@School Project, of Kerala’s General Education Department has joined hands with chip giant Intel, to deploy a dual language version of the Skoool Learning and Teaching Technologies website. The platform is expected to benefit teachers and students (and parents!) in the state by providing attractive educational packages in school level Mathematics and Science, as a free Internet resource.
It provides resources in English and Malayalam to enhance understanding of these core subjects in the school curriculum. IT@School and Intel worked together to create the locally relevant educational content. Besides the web version, all schools in Kerala would be equipped with the offline version of Skoool content.

The Skool Kerala programme was launched by Kerala’s Minister for Education & Culture, M A Baby on Saturday, with James Varghese, Secretary, Kerala General Education department, A P M Mohammed Hanish, Director of Public Instruction, Rathan Kelkar, Director, Kerala State IT Mission, R. Ravichandran, Director-Sales, Intel South Asia and Gerald Smyth, programme Manager, Intel ( Ireland) participating.

Skoool Learning and Teaching Technology is part of Intel’s World Ahead Program, which aims to connect people worldwide to technology that helps them learn, increase economic opportunity and improve health.

IT@School provides ICT enabled education to over 3 million students per year in the state of Kerala. The work of the project saw 200,000 teachers empowered in ICT through a network of 200 dedicated Master Trainers and 5600 IT Co-ordinators.
