Bobby Mitra caps long stint at TI India, moves to US HQ; Santhosh Kumar to head India ops

Bangalore July 10, 2013: One of the longest serving India heads of a multi national infotech company -- Dr. Biswadip (Bobby) Mitra, President and Managing Director of TI India -- moves to the US as Worldwide Director for TI’s Industrial Systems. He remains , Chairman of TI India while Santhosh Kumar slips into Bobby’s role as MD of TI India. 
In his new role, Dr. Mitra is responsible for managing engineering, and marketing and applications for TI’s industrial systems, with responsibility for creating and marketing system solutions designed to grow TI’s position in the diverse industrial market.
Santhosh who was responsible for leading TI’s C6000 video and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) product teams will relocate back to India from the U.S.
Dr. Mitra joined TI in 1986. After leading several activities in TI India and in Dallas, he was appointed Managing Director of TI India in 2001 and was named President and Managing Director in 2009. In this role, he has grown all of TI India’s analog and embedded processing portfolios, successfully led the sales and marketing teams, expanded the impact and reach of the University program and started the Kilby Labs research center in India.He is a past Chairman of the India Electronics & Semiconductor Association (IESA) and a past President of the VLSI Society of India. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Electrical Communications Engineering and a Ph.D in Computer Science and Engineering, both from India Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. Dr. Mitra also earned an executive MBA from the University of Texas, Austin.

As he now relocates to the U.S. to lead TI’s focus in the worldwide industrial systems area across multiple regions, his teams will have the benefit of his vast experience in leading semiconductor R&D, as well as sales & marketing. The TI India team will also benefit from Dr. Mitra’s guidance and leadership as he assumes the additional role of Chairman, TI India.”
