SolidWorks 2013 launched in India, with key 3D enhancements; iPad app and student edition also unveiled.

Bangalore, October 2, 2012: France-headquartered global leaders in 3D design software, Dassault Systèmes, has launched the 2013 edition of its flagship CAD product SolidWorks, with more than 200 improvements including new design tools and faster drawing & modelling capabilities, sub-model simulation, cost estimation, network rendering, and wider sharing and connectivity options.
"As always,we’ve upheld our tradition of listening to our customers by providing enhancements and functionality to help them simplify their lives and create the best products", said Bertrand Sicot, CEO, SolidWorks, Dassault Systèmes. He was speaking to IndiaTechOnline, on the sidelines of the company's Innovation Day in Bangalore recently -- part of a multi-city roadshow across India.

M. Sicot added that in a bid to address one recurring item on customers' wishlists, the ability access SolidWorks-generated designs on portable platforms, the cfompany has launched an affordable $ 1.99 app ,called 'e-drawings for iPad / iPhone' http://www.solidworks.com/sw/products/edrawings-for-ipad.htm

In recent weeks, SolidWorks has also released a dedicated suite of Plastics software: easy-to-use software tools that enable users to predict and avoid manufacturing defects during the earliest stages of plastics part and injection mold design.“Asia is the world’s largest consumer of plastics with per capita consumption of plastic products in India moving towards 2.5 times the GDP growth. The expanding customer base has increased the demand for innovative designing solutions for the plastic industry to meet the requirements of the sector” said Manoj Mehta, Country Manager, India & SAARC, SolidWorks.

To enable the student community to get a feel for SolidWorks, the company has also released a student edition of SolidWorks 2013: http://www.solidworks.com/education-edition-2013-2013.htm .

"The last makret is the non-adopting makret. The next to last makret is the phobic makret. The one immediately before the phobic is the laggard. And, the one immediately before that is the late mainstream makret. Some people will never adopt it whatever it is. Marketers don't even try. The phobics will wait until it is embedded into something they use without knowing it is there. We have computers in our cars, but only hobiest and professonal mechanics are going to get involved with those computers. The late makret wants it to be easy, but powerful. If 3D isn't being adopted, don't blame the makret. Fit the makret. Rewrite the software to get rid of feature bloat. I bought a 3D application long ago. I didn't have time to play with and learn it, because the application wanted me to do had very little to do with what I wanted to do with it. I was trained by this to ignore 3D. I'd love to use 3D, but it won't happen. I'd love to build a GIS application, but physical geography isn't what I want to use it for, so I'm out of luck for now. I don't feel left behind. I'm quite comfortable with what I have. As for makret populations crossing the chasam, I'm sorry but it is emerging categories that cross the chasam to reach the makret populations. The customers don't cross the chasam."
