NASSCOM  opens regional chapter in Kerala state capital

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 30, 2011: The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) has announced the opening its regional chapter in Kerala. To mark the occasion NASSCOM  held a day-long Executive Council meeting at the campus of travel logistics solution leader IBS in Technopark, for the first time.
Sujit Unni is to look after the state regional chapter.

Rajendra Pawar, Chairman, NASSCOM, says: “Strong local economic growth and rapid advancement in technology infrastructure has helped Kerala transform its image, and emerge as the leading IT-BPO destination in India. Industry, Academia and NASSCOM will come together and collaborate to take decisive steps to develop high calibre talent pool, foster a sustainable ecosystem for research and innovation, and actively work to establish Kerala as a trusted hub for professional services, and ensure adequate policy support to keep the momentum strong.”
V.K. Mathews, Executive Chairman, IBS Group, adds, “With recent growth & development coming to Kerala, the state is now not just a tourist destination but an emerging hub for IT/ITeS/BPO companies. And with NASSCOM coming to the state and opening up its Regional Chapter here, there will be more focused efforts to provide IT companies with an opportunity to showcase their core competencies to the rest of the country and the world, which will be critical for attracting IT investments in times to come.”
There are some 300 IT/ITeS companies in Kerala mostly SMEs; 27 of them are NASSCOM members.
